I’m thinking about making commenting on my website more fun and rewarding for my readers by adding ranks, levels, and points as they participate in the comments. They could also earn custom badges as rewards or even gain special privileges, such as becoming an author on the blog when they reach a certain level.
Another benefit is that when someone new visits the blog, they might become curious when they see a badge or title next to a commenter’s name. They may click on the person’s profile to learn more and visit their blog. This can also give my readers a way to promote their own websites without having to include direct links in their comments.
So, in this tutorial, you’ll learn what badges are in Blogger comments and how you can earn them.
How the System Works
I’m not using any third-party service to create this comment system. Instead, I’m using Blogger’s built-in comment system and customizing it by working with some of its XML data tags and JavaScript.
For example, getting the Blogger profile URL of the commenter or author.

Requirements
To participate, you need to:
- Sign in to your Google account.
- Have a Blogger account.
- Create a Blogger profile.
Note: A Blogger profile is required in order to participate in the ranking system and have your activity properly associated with your profile.
What Is a Badge?
Badges are visual identifiers that represent your role, activity, or contributions to the site. They are awarded based on specific actions, such as commenting, contributing content, supporting the platform, or being part of the site's management team.

Available Badges
The site currently offers several badges, with each one representing a specific role or achievement. Additional badges may be introduced in the future as the system continues to improve.
- Admin — Founder and site owner.
- Author — Contributors who create content for the blog.
- Supporter — Users who support the site through donations. Supporters may also receive access to our raw code.
How to Participate
To take part in the Blogger comment system, you need to be signed in to your Google account when using Chrome, Safari, or another supported browser. Being signed in allows your profile information, badges, and ranking progress to be properly associated with your account and displayed on the site.
If you choose to comment as Anonymous or use the Name/URL option instead of signing in, your activity will not be linked to a Blogger profile. As a result, your badge progress, ranking level, and other profile-related features will not be tracked or displayed.
Important: Badges and ranks are tied to a single Google account and cannot be transferred between accounts. For this reason, it’s recommended that you use the same Google account consistently so your progress, badges, and ranking history remain associated with one profile.
Comment Rank System
Your rank is based on the total number of approved comments you’ve posted. As your comment count grows, you’ll advance through different levels, each reflecting a higher level of participation.
